Finaly his speech reached NS. Here it is Live:
Greetings, As you are all aware, I have decided to leave Nationstates after 5 months as the nation of Maine Road. I have taken great pleasure in seeing Blue Moon grow from 1 nation to almost 100. I can only thank all you guys for that. When I started in NationStates I remember region invasions happening everyday. They happened so often that only large ones were known about. The mods were almost non existant. Griefing rules were never thought of. This was the Nationstates of old. I remember taking over a region and booting everyone out. No one batted an eyelid. Also nearly all nations were active. I used to look forward to coming online and seeing what had happened over night in terms of invasions and wars. Back then deletions were very rare. When someone was deleted it sent shockwaves through all nationstates. It took something very bad to get deleted. Also regions never had founders. This made the game fun. Knowing the delegate had to be on his toes or he would lose his region made this game very interesting. You could almost smell their panic. This is NationStates in its heyday.
How things have changed…. I never really look forward to logging on anymore. This game has died a death, which is slow and painful. It’s almost unbearable. There are fewer active nations. Fewer regions. This game is not worthy of my internet call charge. I only have one factor to blame. The Mods. They have nearly destroyed this game. Invasions are so rare that even the minute ones are noticed. Deletions are all too common. One step out of line and your gone. I live in fear of it. Also there is talk of IP banning!!!!! The mods hand out warnings and deletions as though they are on commission! Its so sad. The mods have also placed undeserving founders in all regions to make invasion near impossible. Also you cannot eject anyone. Not even in your own region! I remember ejecting 70 people from one region back in April and no one gave a toss(apart from the 70 nations). But deletion awaits if you deleted as many as 3. The mods have made this game a test of patience. Nationstates is dying. Whole regions are inactive.
I can see a vision. By the new year less than 50 nations will be regularly active. Massive regions such as the South Pacific will become empty wasteland. This whole game will become a wasteland! Forget Nationstates 2. Playing this for free is bad enough! Blue Moon our beloved region will become empty too. People will quit and get deleted. By spring 2004 this game will be history.
I cant thank you guys enough for helping me enjoy Nationstates. You have been a pleasure to talk to and invade with. I hope that you all prosper in your lives. Thanks to you Blue Moon has become a famous region throughout Nationstates. Remember that YOU are Blue Moon. You need to pull together to keep Blue Moon going. Do it for nationstates.
This is my last message in nationstates. I will log on tomorrow to check telegrams for one final time. Then that will be it.
“ Live not for time, but eternity”
What do you say about that. What will happen to Blue Moon. Only time can tell.
