This is Sebastian Pearce with the first of what will hopefully be a series of articles documenting the various Invader and Defender Regions.
My first study was the Army of Power. Given recent activity in Ios where they and their allies put up the closest battle seen in this war between Crashers and Antis in a long while, they seemed an appropriate subject.
I would like to thank the primary members interviewed, Assylum Seekers United , White fist , Rebel Spies and Azuma III ; they were all courteous and forthcoming and kind enough to provide forum space in which to conduct the interviews.
Founded only recently, it was the four nations I interviewed, along with one other, MEROL, that were the primogenitors of the Army of Power. Most notably in The Confederation and Empire of Power, they had all had previous misadventures involving invaders resulting in them feeling they could no longer trust the integrity of the other regions. To paraphrase Rebel Spies ,
So Army of Power was founded as a bright new light among the Invaders.
This all happened over four weeks ago, but it was only until the invasions of Ios that the Army of Power really made an impact upon Nationstates. You can read more of Ios here. It was with that invasion that the Army of Power managed to bring more than a few invader regions, including several previously inactive ones.
Currently they're at leisure, presumably doing what invaders do between invasions, that is plan the next one, but their plans for the future are interesting to say the least . . .
This sounds familiar, as recently there have been numerous attempts to forge an all-consuming alliance between the Invaders, The Imperial Despot Empire and the Council of the Aggressive to name two. When asked what they would do to avoid the problems dogging previous efforts at unification, infighting and the like, Rebel Spies had this to say,
If the Army of Power brings to this endeavour the organisational skills displayed in Ios, I think this is one more area in which they will distinguish themselves.
Looking at the dynamics of the group, it is clear to see how they have managed to flourish in the shadow of larger invaders. They are all loyal to their leader and the group as a whole, or more exactly, those that are allowed stay are loyal, as put by White fist .
Further than that, the primary members have been together longer than simply their membership in Army of Power.
Assylum Seekers United thoughts are echoed by others. When questioned on the loyalties of the group, Azuma III agreed with my statement that they seemed a tight unit, and further that

The forum appears to be where it all happens, following the usual pattern for Invaders. There is wuite a lot of activity despite the small numbers. There are the usual areas for missions and the like, but the general areas are lively and a broad range of topics are in discussion.
Conclusion: Despite its small size, the Army of Power is most definetley "one to watch". For a region with such selective recruiting they inevitably are small in number, yet theyre connections yield great numbers when on the offensive, as demonstrated by Ios.

The situation was typical, but it had grown even more out of hand than usual. I mean, almost everyone was either inactive or a spy.
So Army of Power was founded as a bright new light among the Invaders.

Yes. I (Rebel Spies) have a dream, that one day we may be able to bring the most powerful invader regions together into one super alliance. Unlike Imperial Commonwealth, though, we will not try to make nations leave their own region. We will coordinate ourselves otherwise, and be individual entities combined towards a common goal.
My plan for the future is to have Army of Power grow to be one of the most prominent regions in NS. We will draw recruits from all over the NS world, and form the greatest alliance ever sees!

We hope to have all the regions involved realize that we need to avoid those problems. We probably will meet off NS, and contact through telegrams, instead of creating a new region. This way, puppet nations aren't just talking to each other. You never know who is on the other side of the puppet nations.

if members dont live up to our standards they are warned and if the problem continues they are booted.

The 5 original members are myself, White Fist, Rebel Spies, Azuma III and MEROL. I've been invading since I came to the game, White Fist has been my second in command for 90 percent of it. I've never really settles in one region, but I feel Army of Power will be my home for a long time.

I think my plans will be to stay here, and help out as much as i can. You see, this is the best alliance i've been in, and everyone here is my friend. I know i can trust them.
